It was a great joy to chat with Adelaide Football Club legend Rod ‘Jammo’ Jameson recently on Sports Legends with Bevo.
We discussed how Jammo was very close to being a Kangaroos player, what it was like to be part of the Crows premiership side in 1997, some of the characters that he played with during his career and Jammo gave some very insightful thoughts about what we can do with the current concussion issues in the AFL.
Thanks so much to Jammo for his time, to Peter Oldfield from the Southern Slugs Football Club for sponsoring the episode and to the team at PodBooth for putting this great video together.

More on Rod Jameson..
Meet Rod Jameson, a former professional Australian rules footballer who left an indelible mark on the sport. Born on June 30, 1970, he made his mark in the Australian Football League (AFL) as a prominent player for the Adelaide Football Club.
In 1991, Jameson proved his goal-scoring prowess, earning the title of Adelaide’s leading goal kicker. However, as his career progressed, he showcased his versatility by transitioning to the midfield and backline, adapting seamlessly to new roles.
This remarkable player was instantly recognizable on the field for his shaved head, and his powerful long kicking skills were the envy of many. He was a force to be reckoned with, a true asset to the Adelaide team.
One of the defining moments of his career came in 1997 when he contributed significantly to Adelaide’s premiership win. Despite suffering an injury during the first quarter of the game, Jameson’s impact was undeniable, leaving an enduring legacy within the club.
Retiring from the AFL at a surprisingly young age of 29, Rod Jameson left behind a trail of accomplishments and memories that continue to be celebrated among fans and fellow players alike.
