SoulGood Featured Mix: New York City’s Top Ambassador – Hector Romero

Hector Romero has stood in New York’s ever-changing nightlife and continues to grow the industry for a remarkable four-decade career.

Hector was born and raised in the Bronx, and his DJ credentials include playing in legendary venues such as Limelight, Palladium, The Roxy and Save The Robots. Over the years, he has been one of New York City’s top ambassadors, bringing his unique home vibes to clubs and venues around the world.

With more than 30 years of experience, this career DJ is now reusing his musical diversity and eclectic taste in the remix and production arena. Romero has created successful compilations including “Soulful House Journey” on King Street and most recently “Weaving Genres” on Nervous Record, a direct classic that includes one of Romero’s own products, the collaboration of “Dancing” with Benji Candelario. He also remixed the legendary David Morales, who in 2012 released the remix “Stay” on Ultra Records. Hector was the heart of the music observer and ventured into the covers of various influential radio films, including the resident DJ for Def Mix Radio, which he ran. his own monthly podcast for iTunes and regularly appears as a guest on FG Radio in Paris, where he foreshadows Morales and holds a monthly spot on Radio 105 in Italy.

In addition to his extensive behind-the-scenes experience, Hector’s long-standing position as director of A&R at Def Mix Music and Saw Recordings has given him the opportunity to work with legendary David Morales and Frankie Knuckles. Although New York is still its geographical and spiritual home, Hector can often be seen on the dance floors as far as Italy, Greece, Japan and Spain.
