Jeremy Burgess, born on 16 April 1953 in Adelaide Hills, South Australia, is a renowned Australian motorcycle racing chief mechanic. He has worked with three world champions: Wayne Gardner, Mick Doohan, and Valentino Rossi. He was also a mechanic for Freddie Spencer’s team during Spencer’s 1985 500cc World title win.
Burgess has prepared winning machines ranging from Randy Mamola’s Suzukis to the Hondas of Ron Haslam, Freddie Spencer, Wayne Gardner, Mick Doohan, and Valentino Rossi, and Rossi’s Yamaha. Since July 1980, these riders, under his guidance, have won 157 GP/MotoGP races (as of 2 November 2009) and a total of fourteen World Championships. Furthermore, the motorcycles prepared by Burgess or under his supervision as crew chief have achieved over 280 podium finishes.
